Kirchersociety - 'Dead' canoeist cannot remember anything
A man who walked into a police station five years after he was presumed dead in a canoeing accident has told officers he has no memory of what happened to him. John Darwin's clothes, paddle and red canoe were washed up on a beach in Seaton Carew, near Hartlepool, in March 2002. Search teams never found his body but it was assumed he had died until he turned up at a London police station on Saturday and said: "I think I am a missing person". The mystery deepened today as it emerged that Mr Darwin's bank account had been active in February 2005, and March and September last year. His wife Anne Darwin is understood to have emigrated six weeks ago. Neighbours and family members are confused as to whether she went to Australia, the Carribean, or Panama, in Central America. Detectives are hoping to interview Mr Darwin this afternoon to piece together his movements since 2002.
